The world’s first sewing machine that requires no physical templates—developed entirely by a Chinese enterprise—marks a breakthrough leap for China’s intelligent manufacturing in the field of apparel equipment.

At HIKARI’s recent product launch event in Shanghai, the spotlight was on an intelligent sewing platform named H1 85250. This “template-free” machine, independently developed in China, represents a disruptive innovation in garment equipment. Beyond being a milestone achievement for China’s high-end intelligent apparel manufacturing, its green, efficient, and innovative features also position it as a powerful driver of sustainable development in the global textile industry.

Currently, the global garment industry spends more than USD 10 million annually on acrylic templates for traditional template machines. The processes of manufacturing, storing, cutting, and discarding these templates not only cause significant resource waste but also create environmental challenges. After nine years of dedicated R&D, HIKARI’s development team has successfully launched an intelligent sewing platform that eliminates the need for physical templates, thereby achieving truly green manufacturing.

By fundamentally reshaping the structure and technical approach of conventional industrial sewing machines, and integrating a suite of cutting-edge technologies, the H1 85250 enables automatic recognition and adaptive sewing across different fabrics and processes. This significantly improves production efficiency while reducing labor costs and material waste. Conservative estimates suggest that global adoption of this technology could save the industry at least USD 10 million annually in template-related costs, while also reducing massive amounts of solid waste—delivering both economic and social benefits.

The product is expected to officially enter the market in the first half of 2026 and has already attracted strong interest and cooperation intentions from several leading international apparel brands.
